Children are split into groups by grade level and will participate in daily activities such as sports, arts and crafts, playground time, water days, and more! The goal of Summer Playground is to offer free play and allow children the opportunity to be creative and try new games/activities.
***We do not provide breakfast or lunch. Children need to come to Summer Playground with their own meals.*
***ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE TOILET TRAINED TO ATTEND SUMMER PLAYGROUND AND FIELD TRIPS***

Summer SchoolIf your child is attending Summer School and registers for Before Care and/or Summer Playground, we will coordinate to ensure your child gets to and from Summer School/Summer Playground safely. One of our Summer Playground Coordinators will walk children to Summer School and back to Summer Playground once Summer School is over....................................................................................................................................................................................On Fridays, you have the option to sign up for field trips. You must register for each Field Trip individually. THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR FIELD TRIPS IS JUNE 2nd. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY FIELD TRIP REGISTRATIONS AFTER THIS DEADLINE. There will be no general Summer Playground Supervision on Field Trip Fridays for children not attending Field Trips. We will offer normal Before and After Care hours on these days. We will also provide care during Summer Playground hours (between 8am-4pm) on Fridays when the bus doesn't leave until after 8am or the bus returns before 4pm as well as for Field Trips that take place at Evergreen Elementary.
***A child MUST be registered for Summer Playground in order to attend Field Trips. If a Child is not registered for Summer Playground, but would like to attend a Field Trip, they must do a Flex Day registration for the day of the Field Trip*
***No refunds will be given once the Recreation Department has already paid for the Field Trip***
Field Trips
June 21: Mad Science at Evergreen Elementary
Time: 1:00-2:30pm
Cost: $26.00 (Includes 35-40 minute Science Show, three science stations and a free lemonade provided by DW Coffee)
Children must bring their own lunch
June 28: Alpine Lanes Bowling (Muskego)
Bus Leaves: 10:30am
Bus Returns: 2:00pm
Cost: $25.00 (Includes shoes, bowling, drink and pizza)
If your child does not want pizza, they may bring their own lunch
July 12: Action Territory (Kenosha)
Bus Leaves: 9:30am
Bus Returns: 2:45pm
Cost: $34.00 (Includes unlimited go-kart, laser tag, bumper car, bumper boat, mini golf and VR. Also includes $5.00 action card for arcade games. Parents/Guardians must provide additional money for arcade games if desired. Participants must bring their own lunch or purchase food.
July 19: Burlington Pool
Bus Leaves: 10:30am
Bus Returns: 2:30pm
Cost: $15 (Children can bring their own lunch or bring money to purchase food. Children can also bring a water bottle.)
July 26: Launch Trampoline Park (Gurnee, IL)
Bus Leaves: 9:30am
Bus Returns: 3:00pm
Cost: $45 (Field trip includes 2 hours of trampoline jumping, 1 hour of bowling, arcade credits and socks. Children must bring their own lunch or money to purchase food.)
August 2: End of Summer Bash (Evergreen Elementary)
Hours: 10am to 2pm
Cost: $25
An end of Summer celebration with games, activities, attractions, food, a treat from Sweet Abilities (Gluten Free, Dairy Free and Peanut Free options available) and more!
Sunscreen
Our staff will not apply any lotion sunscreen to children. We will only apply spray sunscreen. Please apply sunscreen to your child before attending or supply them with a spray sunscreen bottle in their backpacks for staff to apply.
Water Days
We will have Water Days on Wednesdays when the weather allows. On Wednesdays, please make sure to send your child with a swim suit, towel and extra change of clothes if they would like to participate.
Library Days
The Waterford Public Library will be on site June 25, July 9 and July 23 for Summer Playground participants to check out books. If you want your child to check out books, please make sure they are already signed up for a Library Card.
